Hi, I’m Max!

After graduating from high school, I was faced with an important decision: should I go to university, start an apprenticeship or spend a year abroad?

A traditional degree programme seemed too theoretical, while an apprenticeship in business administration made me wonder whether it would be academically challenging enough. A year abroad was certainly appealing, offering the chance to improve my language skills and experience new cultures, but the financial commitment made me hesitate.

Then I discovered the dual study programme at MEISER, and I immediately knew it was the right choice. Gebrüder MEISER GmbH not only covers the full tuition fees but also offers students the opportunity to gain international practical experience at one of its subsidiaries. In return, graduates commit to remaining with the company for two years after completing their studies—a commitment I considered more than worthwhile given the opportunities provided.

The programme follows a block-release model in cooperation with the Academy of Saarland Business (ASW) in Neunkirchen. During the theoretical phases, which typically last several weeks, students gain in-depth knowledge across a range of specialist subjects through lectures, interactive seminars, group work and case studies. Many lecturers come directly from industry, bringing valuable practical insights into the classroom and encouraging active discussion among students.

Each theory block is followed by an equally intensive practical phase at MEISER, where I can immediately apply what I have learned by working on real projects and contributing to day-to-day operations. This close integration of theory and practice makes learning both relevant and rewarding.

During my first year, I worked in the Controlling and Financial Accounting department at MEISER Straßenausstattung GmbH. From the outset, I was entrusted with my own projects and given a high level of responsibility. I also had the opportunity to travel on several business trips to our subsidiary BBV in Brandenburg.

Since February, I have been part of the Purchasing department, where I once again received a warm welcome and quickly became involved in everyday business. Every new assignment presents fresh challenges and valuable learning opportunities.

Now, halfway through my studies, I am more convinced than ever that choosing the dual study programme at MEISER was the right decision. I am particularly looking forward to spending time at one of our subsidiaries in France, which will further broaden my international experience.
